Day 19 - Curriculum for Excellence Seminar

Day 19 – Curriculum for Excellence Seminar,
originally uploaded by Gordon McKinlay.

Today we had the first in a series of seminars for principal teachers on a curriculum for excellence at the Erskine Bridge Hotel. We have been working with Inverclyde and West Dunbartonshire for this series. This one was for the technical subjects. In the morning May Sweeney and Joyce Henderson from LTS set the scene within which we are now working and the writing currently being done on the outcomes for the technology area. To date it would appear that only outcomes up to level 2 have been written and these are beingkept fairly well under wraps for a wee while yet.

In the afternoon our own Enterprise development officer, Laura Gibson, talked about the impact technical subjects were having in relation to cross cutting themes. There was the chance for discussion and questions which raised a variety of important issues.

There is a long way to go with all this but it was good to get PTs together to start thinking and asking questions. Lots of other subject areas will be covered over the next few weeks. The next one I will be involved in will be for Computing and Business Studies at the end of February.
