I spent some time this morning with the secondary head teachers discussing the development of GLOW. I included a fair amount of blue sky thinking related to how we use ICT in learning in the secondary school. This opened up a fairly lively debate about how we deploy resources in the school and how we think about teaching ICT skills as opposed to permeating ICT in learning across the whole curriculum.
The discussion also opened up discussion about the positive and negative uses of social software. Every head teacher had a negative story to tell about MySpace, YouTube, etc and very few had positive stories about social networking tools. There was, however, a real sense of egaging with the issues and wanting to make sure that we do the best to provide an appropriate curriculum for all our children.
I have attached a cut down version of the powerpoint slides. The full version has a load of high resolution images and a “Who wants to be a Millionaire” quiz which take up far too much space.
